Anki is most useful for German when cards force active recall and preserve context. The goal is not to memorize disconnected translations, but to remember vocabulary together with gender, grammar and natural sentence patterns.

What should a German Anki card contain?

For nouns, include the article. For verbs, include a useful sentence or common complement. For grammar, make the tested contrast clear enough that you know exactly what you failed to remember.

Learn der, die and das with the noun

Avoid storing German nouns without gender. Repeated article-plus-noun exposure makes gender part of the word instead of a separate fact that must be repaired later.
